Hillary & Keygan’s Garden-Inspired Wedding at The Weaver House at Pine Bend – West Olive, Michigan

Michigan Springtime & Summers do not disappoint with lush color all around. Hillary & Keygan’s wedding at the Weaver House at Pine Bend was no exception! The venue alone was a gorgeous place to celebrate their amazing day, while welcoming green grass & full trees once again.

Hillary was the epitome of a glowing bride. She exuded such a peaceful, happy & relaxed spirit that day – just like every bride should on her big day! It was such a joy getting to see her interact with her family & close friends and get to meet her “tribe”.

The details she had from dress, to bouquet all the way to the incredible garden-inspired look of her reception was breathtaking!

Starting the day shooting her details….well let’s just say I was in my happy place for sure! :-) But then capturing the priceless moments of her family seeing her in her princess dress for the first time was beyond SWEET! I was honored to capture so many of her family seeing her for the first time: her two bridesmaids, who are her sisters… her brother, who was their wedding officiant… her adorable little nieces… her grandma… and her dad. How I kept from crying I don’t know. :-) But many happy tears were flowing around me and I loved getting to document it all!

Hillary’s entrance to the ceremony location was so special. Her dad walked her down the steps from the Weaver House, and from there she & her groom had their VERY FIRST glimpse of each other that day from a distance! I loved how they each waved to one another. As she got even closer, it was clear how excited they were to finally stand by each other.

The ceremony spot was beautifully decorated with garlands behind the pews and gorgeous floral displays on the white pergolas.

After the ceremony & family photos, I ventured into the woods with the bridal party, bride and groom. Afterwards they were introduced at the reception, sweet toasts were said, and then… the PIZZA TRUCK was open for dinner. I loved that Hillary & Keygan incorporated their favorite food into their wedding! The pizza was delicious, made right on the truck in a wood fire pizza oven.

For dessert, the couple had an ice-cream cart brought in with Michigan mitten-shaped ice-cream popsicles. It was so cute (& yummy)! They even had yard games available for all to play throughout the day. Kids and adults alike had a blast with bean bag toss and other games on the lawn.

It really was the perfect day, and I’m so happy to have been a part of documenting it all. :-) Congrats to Hillary & Keygan and best wishes for an amazing marriage filled with so much love and laughter!

Home Studio Tour – See How We Display Our Photos – Rockford, Michigan

Turn your house into a home with heirloom photography product.

One of the things I love MOST about my house, is how the printed portraits of our family displayed throughout the walls make it truly feel like HOME.

Digital files are amazing because they allow us to share photos easily via online platforms to family & friends. But there is a special purpose for photos that live in tangible form. It allows us to live in the PRESENT, enjoying those precious memories in the here and now.

Tangible heirlooms are much more readily enjoyed on a daily basis.

There isn’t a day that goes by that my eyes don’t catch a glimpse at one of the many photography wall displays throughout our home. Our son enjoys naming off everyone he recognizes in the photos, including family that live far away. They all seem much closer when you’ve created a visual, portrait keepsake of them within a picture frame or in a nearby album. Having photos of your children displayed in the home is also a way to remind them that they’re a valued & cherished part of your family and home.

Another reason I love tangible heirloom photography is the IMPACT that is has for years down the road!

Just think about how you got to know most of your own family’s ancient memories. Did they pop in a floppy disk drive (whaaaat?) or CD-ROM to show you those old photos? No way! They (hopefully) had albums & albums of tangible prints & framed portraits around the walls of their homes to share with you!

I believe the value that was placed on photography as tangible treasures back then should remain the same today. Digitals have their place in this world, but in more of an archival/back-up kind of way. I’m a “live my best life today” kind of girl, and this includes the way I enjoy & share my family’s memories.

This is also why I include complimentary album & wall design services to all my clients.

I want the couples and families that hire me to document their precious life’s memories to receive a full and complete experience that ends with heirloom treasures in their hands or on their walls.

Truthfully, how many of you still have years-worth of digital files stored up on CD-ROMS & USB drives from past photographers, but have YET to actually make something of them? Trust me…. as a wife, homemaker, stay-at-home momma AND entrepreneur, I KNOW the struggle is real! In the fast-paced world that we live in, it’s so much easier to just “get the digitals” and move on with life. But from personal experience, when you make the time to bring those files to life, you turn those still-distant memories into ones you can repeatedly enjoy, day in & day out!

SO… now onto my own home studio tour…

Below I’ll be sharing with you photos of my in-home photography studio in Rockford, along with various rooms throughout our home that include some of our family’s precious memories. What isn’t included in this blog post is our staircase wall display, which I installed when we first moved into our forever home back in 2013. I love it, but it could definitely use some updating & a crisper, cleaner look overall. I think that will be my next “big project”. :)

There’s no big wonder why I chose this space in our home to entertain friends, have in-person consultations with photography clients, and do my portrait-studio work. It’s my little “slice of heaven”. My happy place! The abundance of natural light it gets with its bay windows + large skylights made for an automatic “win” in this photographer’s eyes when we purchased our home.

Because it’s my favorite room in our entire house, it BEGGED for stunning wall displays. Some kind of focal-point piece to turn a room with tall ceilings into a “homey” space for all to enjoy.

What I love about framed prints is the flexibility it allows for growing families over the years. It takes just minutes to replace prints within a frame, and “voilà!”… suddenly you have updated memories in your home, while keeping the same classy style of a frame that fits your home & style.

Our downstairs family room has an assortment of these amazing metal prints with floating mount + some more framed prints.

Our son’s room includes this 20 x 24 sized metal print above his bed, along with… a 10 x 10 canvas wrap on the opposite wall.

For the longest time, my son’s bathroom upstairs had NO wall decor. It looked so… sad! As soon as I ordered this sweet metal print of him through my professional print lab, and mounted it to the bathroom wall it suddenly seemed to come to life!

As a fine art photographer, I’m committed to getting tangible heirloom treasures into your hands so you too can begin sharing & enjoying your family’s memories.
